期待

Yet another year has disappeared once again since the last Founder's Day. As I'm typing here, preparing to sleep, in a few hours time elsewhere, almighty Steve will make yet another groundbreaking announcement on stage. Let's hope it will be good.

There were 2 tests today, namly Com Sci and Chinese, weren't too difficult but not easily full marks achievable. There's a big day us tomorrow, though not as big as originally expected due to lack of foresight from the management.

Ok, I shall wake up expecting to see something shocking on the tech sites, though everyone seems dead set on mac minis and new ipods, keke.

Give back me life!

This has been a rather dredgy week, what with work piling up and tests every few days. No one is happy. iphoting and the eagle are both reeling over this, who isn't.

On the other hand, my parents have been insisting that I clear out the few ancient computers I got for free from various people last year. So what can one do with a P133 and P200MMX? I supposed if I slap in DSL distro, they would probably be useful somehow as fileservers or something. I need HDDs to go along with that though. Oh well, article here for me to refer to back next weekend.

Purpose?

If you read Slashdot or any reputable source recently, you did learnt that the inventors of the CCD (couple charged device), found in almost every digital camera and the Hubble Space Telescope had been awarded for their work in 1969 after 36 years. Turns out they came up with the CCD concept over a short session after lunch.

Reading thru the ever flamatory comments on Slashdot, I came across this which basically sums up my perception of the majority of persons around:

We were on the doorstep of the solar system almost 40 years ago. Now we're all parked in front of plasma televisions bought on 28% credit watching "reality shows." Talk about toilet-ramming the future. This is what happens when entire generations of education are wasted on purpose. What a *insert expletives* waste.
So there, LOL

Splack

I was really lethargic after getting home from PE today, but managed to drag myself to the library somehow. That made the difference and I have finished yet another piece of work relating to Chinese. Now, on to TOK tomorrow. Wandered around prior to the closing time and came across this travel photography exhibition on the third level. I usually do my work at the ground level where there are power sockets for laptop, but today I was on the third. Surprisingly, there were quite a bunch of kids around, but the amostphere was still peaceable enough for a library. Some books on Java caught my eye later on. Yeah, thinking of working with the AWT library sometime soon.

Apollo 24

I had originally first saw the space alien video made by the Apollo 24 people. But anyways, I finally saw that stupid Apollo 24. Its a heck good thing they did that on their last day in CJC, else god knows what brouhaha will erupt.

And so the acnova lot were off to SLS as someone wanted to RMA his board and also meet bencxr, inspirational leader of VRZone LAN parties (the only LAN parties in SG), additionally the brain behind acnova. Some last minute shoppings for screwdrivers and hardware before flying off to the continent of vast technlogical voidness and prevalent racism.

As is their nature, even in the last moments in SG, our dear friends were still tinkering with HDDs and what nots, a hat off to them for that.

Another 2 friends caught surprised playing with the $999 Acer laptop which I swear is absolute value for money!

And finally, a group of half-forgotten people attempt to remind us of their existence. Did I mention vote-buying?

No Access

I was at this interesting place sometime last Wednesday.

Any ideas? No prizes for guessing ...

Anyways, my foray into B&M class has found it a pretty understandable subject as compared to the obscured terminology and math in Econs. I hereby strongly urge all to defect over. At least Karan Doton is a truely genuine IB teacher, it pays to get the real goods. Cheesepie yesterday was relatively insightful, I finally made sense of OO cherries after this 2 years. Although our class has shrunk to yet another miniature size, prolly the smallest ever in the whole cake, we are getting a big bakery lecturer who knows her stuff and prolly wasn't cheap to hire. Good thing Cheesepie is a recognized international dish in Chefdom else we would have ended up like the fate of those people doing Malay Bakery.

The ace gang was performing yet another trial today, good thing we found the bottleneck in time. One more problem identified and to address! On final note, the concert doesn't seem to be getting anywhere.

History Maker

Praise must go to the Lord for many good things He hath done! Good luck to all 'O' level people who are anxiously waiting for their results this Friday. I have my Higher Chinese results to collect as well, ahaha =P

Hopefully some photos on Friday too.

Intricacies

Finally saw Delirious today, rhapsody and tunes were pretty powerful. Way to go for rock and roll. On another note, the enterprise, that is to say, myself, am already eating into my secondary monetary reserves in my cupboard. I shall leave the primary (bank) one untouched and probably just add my CNY collections to that.

This is bad, how did my secondary reserves dip from a one time high of $400 to barely $50, LOL. Recovery is going to be a long and tough path. I attribute the increased spendings to some stuff I thought would be rather useful.

  1. New rugged wallet
  2. Silicon cases for ipods
  3. Fast drying permanent color markers
  4. 3G Phone
I can remember only the above. Bah, should have documented more in my excel financial spreadsheet. The following are some new convenient innovations I have derived from people around:
  1. Thumbdrives coupled with keychains
  2. Mini wallet timetable
Thanks to my "new" phone's radio, I have on many occasions just left the ipod at home, along with the cumbersome and patchy white earphones.

Move it!

Exercise is beneficial to improving mental concentration. After doing 2 rounds for Mass PE, running to and fro in the new building after school, and dunking people into the pool afterwards at the class party, I must agree. I was able to navigate my way back home, transferring from 2 buses and then finally taking the train back home from Sembawang. Didn't feel at all sleep and my mind was crystal clear, LOL!

Had a first look at the iMac Core Duo today. Vickie's sister was flaunting one, and it lives up to being every geek's wanted item. Everyone seems worried about the days ahead, oh well, life's tough.
